Tobacco Use
While indoor workplaces across Minnesota officially became smoke-free on October 1, 2007, in compliance with the Freedom to Breathe Act of 2007, Ridgeview has taken it a step further — and will be completely tobacco-free on Jan. 1, 2008. The use of any tobacco product will be prohibited anywhere on the Ridgeview Medical Center campus, including Ridgeview-owned parking lots, and at all Ridgeview Clinic locations.
Top reasons Ridgeview Medical Center is implementing a tobacco-free policy:
- To set a good example for our patients and enhance the Ridgeview patient experience
- To improve the health of our employees and the communities we serve
- To advance our mission as a health care organization
Physician orders that, in the past, would have permitted patients to smoke outdoors will no longer be allowed. By supporting a tobacco-free environment, Ridgeview supports healthy lifestyle choices for our patients and the community.
Cell Phone Use
Due to the chance of cellular interference on critical medical equipment, we ask that visitors do not use their cell phones in posted areas, such as surgery and critical care rooms. You may use cell phones in all other areas of the hospital.
