"I have a deep sense of belonging within my department that is directly proportional to my commitment to the community we serve" Kerri Specht, RN

"I started at Ridgeview in the mid-90s as a volunteer in the Emergency Department (ED). I wanted to 'dip my toe' in health care to determine if it was the right career path for me. Today, I have been employed here for nearly 24 years, but if you were to trace back my original 'start date', it would be 52 years ago as I was born at Ridgeview.

Growing up in the area, Ridgeview has been home to not only me, but many of my family members as well. My mother, Margie Felt, worked as a Health Unit Coordinator in the Telemetry/Intensive Care Unit for more than 25 years before retiring in 1994. She considered Ridgeview her home as she made many lifelong friends and deep connections with her co-workers. I am beyond fortunate to have made, and continue to make, those same lifelong connections.

Throughout the years, Ridgeview has supported my career in many ways. I enjoyed a flexible work schedule, and my leaders wrote incredibly supportive letters of recommendation and advocated for me to take on new roles.

During my time at Ridgeview, I have proudly served as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), a Surgical Technician, and for the past 16 years, an Operating Room and Emergency Department RN. I have been supported in my professional growth, and equally as important, I feel supported in the day-to-day operations of our department through some incredibly challenging climates.

I have a deep sense of belonging within my department that is directly proportional to my commitment to the community we serve. This community was my mother’s community. She was eternally grateful to have worked for and received care from Ridgeview — and I can testify to the same.

I keep showing up because I know it matters. I make a difference here. I matter here."
