Carter Nichols, MD, is an ophthalmologist who specializes in LASIK and premium intraocular lens implant technology. With more than 20 years of experience, Dr. Nichols is one of the most experienced and skilled refractive and cataract surgeons in Minnesota.

Dr. Nichols’ interest in ophthalmology was driven by his lifelong passion for astronomy and optics. He attended Colgate University in New York, where he completed an intense undergraduate program in physics, astronomy and chemistry. He then went on to further his education and training in Milwaukee — earning his medical degree from the Medical College of Wisconsin, completing an internship at St. Joseph’s Hospital and completing his residency at the Medical College of Wisconsin Eye Institute.

Dr. Nichols has a passion for volunteering his time and skills to provide eye care to medically underserved communities, including performing surgeries in Nicaragua in association with VOSH/International (Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity).
