Preparing for Your Endoscopy Procedure

To prepare for your appointment, follow all of the instructions provided by your provider's office as each procedure requires unique preparation. Instructions for your specific procedure can also be found on this page.

In general, you must:

  1. Bring with you a list of medications you are currently taking.
  2. Bring your inhaler(s) if you have asthma.
  3. Refrain from using perfumes and colognes on the day of your procedure.
  4. Contact your doctor if you are taking any of the following medications:
    • Blood thinners (Persantine, aspirin, Coumadin, Plavix, Ticlid)
    • Non-steroidal anti-inflammatories (Advil, Motrin, Aleve, ibuprofen)
    • Insulin or hypoglycemia pills
    • St. John’s wort (herbal medicine)

You should expect to be at the clinic for about two to three hours. We are not able to guarantee exact times as procedures vary in length and provider availability. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

After your procedure, you will experience effects from the sedation. Please arrange for a responsible adult to drive you home and have someone monitor you for the rest of the day to report any complications.

    Hours: Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.
