Ridgeview offers a comprehensive outpatient pulmonary rehabilitation program for people with various lung disorders to help improve your quality of life.

It's available to patients with a variety of pulmonary conditions including:

  • Alpha-1 Antitrypsin Deficiency
  • Asthma
  • Bronchiectasis
  • Chronic Bronchitis
  • COPD
  • Emphysema
  • Pre/Post Lung Reduction Surgery
  • Pre/Post Transplant
  • Pulmonary Fibrosis
  • Sarcoidosis

About Lungs for Life

The Lungs for Life referral form is used by providers to refer patients to Ridgeview for the Lungs for Life pulmonary rehabilitation program. Please print and deliver or email this form to your primary care provider for completion. The form can be returned by fax to 952-442-6019 or by email to penny.lekie@ridgeviewmedical.org.

Exercise

After an evaluation with the rehabilitation team, you will begin an exercise program that is tailored to your individual needs and goals. The program includes cardiovascular conditioning, strength training, respiratory muscle training and flexibility exercises in order to improve both strength and endurance. You will attend sessions two times per week on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The program length is a total of 10 weeks, including the initial and exit evaluations.

Education

Education is a vital component of the program. Our team will teach you the details of pulmonary disease and its effect on your daily life. We provide you with information on topics such as breathing retraining, medications, oxygen therapy, secretion clearance and management, energy conservation, nutrition and stress management.
