Health Insurance

Enrollment Assistance

Ridgeview participates in Minnesota’s Hospital Presumptive Eligibility (HPE) program. The HPE program allows Ridgeview to make a preliminary determination of your eligibility for Medical Assistance — Minnesota’s Medicaid program. Those who meet the basic criteria can be temporarily enrolled to receive immediate coverage. Coverage includes a full range of health care benefits such as clinic visits, inpatient hospital care and prescriptions. This temporary coverage allows time for you to collect the necessary information to complete the online enrollment process to receive long-term Medicaid coverage.

Public Insurance Programs

You can find out if your income qualifies you for coverage through a public health care program, such as Medical Assistance or MinnesotaCare, by applying through MNsure or contacting your county social services office. You can apply and (if you qualify) enroll in a public health care program at any time during the year. Visit MNsure to learn more or apply.

Private Insurance Coverage

If you do not have access to employer-based coverage, or if your income is too high for Medical Assistance or MinnesotaCare, you may be eligible for federal assistance to help with premiums or out-of-pocket costs for an individual or family private insurance plan.

Whether you qualify for assistance or not, you must enroll in an individual or family coverage plan during the annual open enrollment period. Minnesota’s open enrollment period is November to January. If you have a qualifying life event, you may enroll outside the annual open enrollment period. Examples of qualifying life events include moving to a different state, certain changes in your income, the birth or death of a dependent, change in marital status and so on. Contact MNsure to discuss your situation and find out if you qualify for a special enrollment period.

Enrollment Assistance from MNsure

Even if your income does not qualify for financial assistance, you can still buy individual or family coverage directly from an insurance company, or by working with a licensed insurance agent or broker. MNsure has a network of certified brokers and navigators, called assisters, who provide free application and enrollment help. To find an assister in your area, visit MNsure’s Assister Directory.

Provider-Based Billing

Provider-based is a Medicare classification. It means that hospitals have met specific Medicare regulations to have their outpatient doctors’ offices and clinics classified as provider-based facilities. When you receive care in a provider-based setting, you will see two charges: the charge for the care and for the facility.

For example, if you had a visit or procedure at a Ridgeview clinic, you may have noticed two types of charges on your bill: Facility Charges and Professional Charges.

  • Facility Charges: Covers your room and any medical or technical services, supplies or equipment. The facility and/or treatment room charge will be shown here.
  • Professional Charges: Covers your doctor’s services, treatment, or procedures. This also applies to other clinical professionals involved in your care.
